Path To Africa’s major projects & timeline

Path To Africa is committed to providing support to as many vulnerable people in Tanzania as possible. We do however select one main project to direct our funds. This has changed over the years, and each project is assessed to determine if it meets our values.

Alongside our major project, we support many smaller scale organisations, families and individuals. Some of our success stories including building a house for a 14 year old girl from Newlands village who had been orphaned and providing primary, secondary and then university for a young lady who wanted to break the cycle of poverty and become a teacher.

Major projects :

2012 – current : Hope Village for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children

Upon completing the Corner Stone Children’s Centre, we knew that we still had the avenue to fundraise and make a difference in Tanzania. For several years, I had observed the wonderful work which Ceccyilah was doing, in bringing her dream to help orphaned children a reality. We knew this was the right fit for Path To Africa and we continue to support Juma, Shamimu, Jessica, Bonny, Anitha, Junior, Bry & Nalary.

2009 – 2012 : Corner Stone Children’s Centre

With a mission to help more children in Newlands Village, Path To Africa conducted a survey of orphaned and vulnerable children. A local organisation had built a school within the village and had a vision to build a children’s centre, allowing orphaned and vulnerable children to board there free of charge, whilst attending the school. The organisation however, did not have the funds to build the centre.

Path To Africa spent the next 3 years fundraising and constructing an 80 bed children’s centre. Through many generous sponsors and donors, we raised over USD$200,000. This allowed us to build the centre, including drilling a borehole to provide the village with access to clean water.

With a well-constructed plan to ensure sustainability of the children’s home we stepped aside however remain in touch and enjoy hearing about their success.

2006 – 2009 : Newlands Orphanage

Newlands Orphanage is based in a local village located about 15kms from Moshi. The climate is very dry and living conditions are tough. For a number of years, Path To Africa assisted in supporting Newlands Orphanage and raised approximately USD$32,000 over that time. Although some of these funds we used for daily expenses like food, most of it was used in construction, to improve the living conditions at the orphanage.

During our time supporting Newlands Orphanage we discovered many children in the village, who were living in conditions even more challenging than those at the orphanage. Whilst always keeping a keen interest in Newlands Orphanage and communication with their current supporters, we chose to look broader into the local community.
